Founded in 1206
by
Ghengis Khan, the Mongolian Empire was the
largest contiguous empire in
history,
covering over 12 million square miles and encompassing over 100 million
people.
Ghengis united several smaller nations in a
bloody takeover.
Once
concluded, he encouraged the arts and commerce. In the 13th
and
14th
centuries, nearly a third of the population was killed by the bubonic
plague
