Blue Vervain

Vebena hastata - Perennial - Culinary, Medicinal

Vervain seeds are roasted, ground and used as a tea substitute. Leaves and roots are used as a general tonic, or to treat instestinal parasites, stomach ache, scrofula and fever. Leaves are also ground into a powder and used to treat nosebleed. The plant is hardy (to -40F) and prefers a well drained soil in full sun.
