The Blue Fairy is a creation of Disney based on
the Fairy with the Turquoise Hair from Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.
In the book, the fairy appears in the story at critical points as a young
girl to guide Pinocchio in his journey. When Pinocchio tells the
fairy of his adventures in a somewhat less than truthful manner, his nose
begins to grow, to which the fairy says 'Lies, my boy, are easily recognised
because there are two kinds: There are lies with short legs and lies with
long noses: Yours, to the point, are the kind with the long nose.'
Disney reinvented the character, turning her into a beneficent adult
wearing blue, but with blonde hair. The Blue Fairy also appears in
the movie A.I: Aritficial Intelligence as an entity that the
main character, a robitic boy, believes can turn him into a real boy. #H236 Dress has bodice with shoulder straps, two tiered flowing skirt, and separate sleeves.
